''Being a cleric of Moradin was not so much a calling as a family obligation. The Soulsteel family has traditionally provided clerics to Moradin for generations, and when tests early in life revealed Halandro had the potential, he had no choice whatsoever.

''Fortunately, the church of Moradin is large and there is room for all clergy to find their niche. Though he had not the temperment to become a leader of the church, Halandro found his way to the Lorekeepers, those who keep the records of the dwarven people (and though few know this, of everyone else). He found joy in the story of ancient histories and also developed quite a knack for the study of anatomy and medicine.

''Currently he is on "detached duty" to investigate signs of ancient records that might be found in undisturbed tombs from ages long ago. He has heard such records might be found in the Diamond Lake area and has resolved to offer his services to a company of explorers....
