Designed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation as a civilian heavy-duty cargo ship capable of withstanding all but the most well-armed pirate attack, a stock ''Peregrine''-class features overpowered engines, strong shields, and no less than 12 quad laser cannons for point defense. Militarized versions of the 750-meter vessel are currently being fielded by the Real Alliance in the capital ship role with the addition of 16 broadside turbolasers – 8 to a side – and the conversion of the upper cargo deck into a hangar capable of carrying 6 full starfighter squadrons and a dozen other small support craft.

Typical tactics are almost fighter-like, and involve closing range on a target as quickly as possible to deliver a broadside in passing, angling the shields for maximum protection against that enemy as one closes, passes by, and then maneuvers for another pass.
