== Galactic Senate ==
The Galactic Senate is the hub of stellar politics.  Each member nation of the [[Starfall:_Galactic_Alliance|Galactic Alliance]] is allowed three representatives on the senate.  In a typical hearing, the senators will listen to testimony from diplomats and experts on a particular issue for several hours or several days.  At the end of the testimony, each senator will vote on the issue.  Because of the large number of cases before the senate it is very common for multiple cases to be heard simultaneously.

In 2314 a false accusation made by a senator implied that a secret alliance existed between [[Starfall:_Halo|Halo]] and [[Starfall:_Eberon|Eberon]].  At the same time the Republican Party of [[Starfall:_Celt|Celt]] were refusing to join the alliance, and [[Starfall:_Independent_Corporate_System|I.C.S.]] was arguing that senate restrictions on trade in the [[Starfall:_Frontier|frontier]] was hampering its ability to provide weapons and security services to the colonies. The [[Starfall:_Weren|weren]] Federation was also unhappy about the situation.

During this conflict the speaker of the house was assassinated and a diplomat from Halo was killed while in custody.  Eberon, ICS, and the Weren Federation all left the Alliance, and the senate was suspended.
