==The Village Pond==

Amidst the huts and crofts of the village sits the [[ALVATIA:_Ingsby_-_Pond|pond]]. It is about 100 feet across, and one to three feet deep. The [[ALVATIA:_Ingsby_-_Pond|pond]] is green, small and stagnant in high summer; dark and rimmed with greenery in spring and fall; or frozen into a rough surface in winter. Except in winter, ducks, herons and insects dwell here; the bottom is a mucky mess, even by medieval standards. The banks are thick with mud and weeds; the prints of people and animals are always present.

A thin trickle of water leads into the [[ALVATIA:_Ingsby_-_Pond|pond]] from the [[ALVATIA:_Ingsby_-_Green|village green]] except in high summer; another trickle leads through the [[ALVATIA:_Ingsby_-_Wright|wright's croft]] to the [[ALVATIA:_Ingsby_-_River_Ive|Ive]].
