By reading the ripples conflict creates in the world, the Hound is able to predict the effects a violent encounter will have. By considering a fight they are shortly to be involved in, they can get a sense of its likely consequences for them. By studying a strategy, they get a sense of the likely results of its implementation. By considering a defeated foe, they get a sense of the consequences of killing or sparing them. In all cases, the impression is broad and vague, though the Hound always knows if it bodes good or ill. (You will gain great glory but suffer great harm, a great host will fall into disarray, you will meet again on a field of battle, etc.)
