The Moons of Himinbjorg declared themselves Independent from Alliance and refused to sign on as Allied worlds. The moons have an all volunteer merchant marine that defends the system from pirates and other dangers. They have no official defense force, but have insisted that all vessels flagged in New Kalmar be armed and on call to defend the system and visiting vessels.
