For much of his youth he was a true believer, taking to his studies -- religious, practical & military -- with more zeal than insight, but with age came greater exposure to the death cult, and with exposure came doubt. He kept the doubts hidden behind a wall of orthodoxy for a time, but they grew, kudzu-like, to overwhelm his commitment. While in Cormorant, he decided to walk away: he renounced his faith, and made for a Neck-bound trading ship. He exalted when the soldiers dispatched to arrest him stopped him at the docks; the Unconquered Sun appeared to him and told him that he must bring truth to his home as the sun cuts through the shade. Since then, he has traveled the West, looking for other enemies of the Silver Prince and making ready to overthrow him. Like most Skullfolk, Nehemiah's hair is jet black, and his skin is the kind of pale that shows rare contact with full sunlight -- or at least it was, before he left Skullstone; his skin is now often wind- and sun-burned. His clothes are plain, faded black peasant-wear in the Skullstone style; the only ornament he has is his beautifully-designed mace, Shadesweeper.
