[[Image:Sandra_Navarro.gif|frame]]Both of Sandra's parents are avid loppet skiers, and her dad continues to participate in the occasional biathlon race to this day.  Sandra's brother was also a member of the Canadian Nordic Combined Team for five years.  With this heritage to support her, she began to ski at the age of two, almost as soon as she could walk.  Her love for the sport was immediate and she hasn't looked back.  She stuck with cross-country racing until her family moved to Calgary in 1992, when she decided to try her hand in biathlon with a local club. (The biathlon is an Olympic winter sport, which combines competitive, free-technique cross-country skiing and small-bore rifle marksmanship.)
