History

The Klimricks are a long line of respected peasant fishermen in Morsten. Aiden has two older brothers, Devon and Roland, who are strong, sturdy workers. Aiden is not that strong and not that coordinated, so is looked at with disdain by his father and older brothers. He is only tolerated on the boat because they need a body and don't want to look outside the family. There is also the hope that someday he will improve.

Aiden shines in the marketplace, however, as his intelligence more than makes up for his lack of physical prowess and his clumsiness. He is a shrewd businessman for his age; however, he does not want to be a fisherman for the rest of his life. Enter Galen Verlaine, who sees a spark in Aiden's eyes and can recognize his intelligence. Galen offers to take Aiden under his wing and teach him the ways of Magic. Aiden's father is more that happy to let him go, as it gets Aiden out from under his feet and doesn't cost him anything.

Aiden's only friend and confidant is his little sister Sara- a rather plain girl of 15. She is the only one who "truly understands" Aiden. As she is a girl, the rest of the family mostly ignores her, except to help the mother with chores. Although, in a few years, the father will pay attention to her, as she will become an opportunity to marry off and possibly gain some in weatlh/family stature.

Description

Aiden is tall, lanky, and scrawny. As a peasant, he dresses as such, and is essentially in sackcloth pants and shirt, a simple rope belt, and a tattered travelling cloak. Being 20, he lives in burning hatred of his current position in life (the constant nagging from his father and brothers doesn't help any), and in the wizard Galen, he sees a way out. Therefore, he is crushed when he finds the wizard gone, but it gives him an excuse to run away, something he's always wanted to do...
