Currency of the Round World
Gold and silver are as rare and precious in the Round World as in our own. Most ‘gold pieces’ are made from a weak gold-copper alloy. Though their value is standard across the Realm, they are locally (and often crudely) minted. The symbol of Jaser is frequently stamped on one face (the 'angel' side) of such money to ward against the evils of usury or foul play.
(actual size-click for close-up. Yes, this world is real. )
Larger, pure ‘Big Gold’ coins are worth between 5-50gps each, depending on their issue. Only merchants -and thieves- seem to have ready knowledge of these coins' elaborate numismatics and value.
(Big Gold, Reign of Davron 12 mint. Actual size)
The most valuable coins known are Turban ‘desert moons’, heavy gold-platinum disks worth up to 100gps apiece.
