Description

To protect his identity and lives of family members (Canadian-Argentinian background, mundane working class) he uses a blond wig to hide his shaven dark hair, together with his yellow goggles which also protect his eyes from bright lights, he uses black baggy cargo pants to carry items he might need, fully convinced the responsible and scientific use of power is the means for humankind to advance he applied to be accepted into the new team sponsored by the world heroes so he can promote that point of view and become a symbol of it, thus wearing a radioactive logo on his chest, the rest of the suit is Red.

Backstory

Jacob Salvestri was a student that worked to pay for his physics degree inside a nuclear power plant in which he felt like at home. Both his need for money along his enthusiasm for science, made him accept to take part on superscience experiments designed to explore and unleash the quantum observer effect and how different nuclear forces interacted with it, which gave him his either casually or causally nuclear based power, in which he is able to use his concentration to generate sub-particle reactions which lead to creation of energy that he can canalize through some advanced tech hilts into energy swords and even use them to make big jumps powered by that power.

Issue One

Powercore had started to learn fighting and swordsmanship techniques shortly before applying to the new team of heroes being assembled, so when a Kaiju made of Microorganism showed up, He very willing to engage the threat, in part due to curiosity but also because he wanted to to show himself to the World Heroes that were confronting the Threat and help them to damage the creature, maybe slicing some tissue of it and get a sample for testing, plus helping his application. The glow of his swords could have either made him easy to spot which, in case he was in the same place as the world heroes it could have exposed a surprise tactic or he could have provided a useful distraction or annoy the creature for the others to deploy their strategy.

But when he showed up he noticed that world heroes were the ones handling the threat and Powercore and others were instructed to let them do the hard work and focus on helping the civilians. So despite the offensive nature of his powers, he realized he was able to free people stuck somewhere by slicing the structures in which the people got stuck by concentrating his power on his swords. Also the jumps allowed him to get to places in which some people was in fear of falling down.

So after all he had to recognize he had a lot to learn yet and although he felt a little more humble afterwards now he feels like pressured to prove to them he can learn fast and he dreams of impress everyone, but also found out that some other heroes were in a similar situation, so he hopes they could help each other.
