The inherant chaos of the ship and the existence of the E.B.N.E.s means that the character have at least partial access to the workings of their world.  In certain times they may call upon the FX demon to provide them with the correct sound effect that they are looking for.

Someone has to provide all those music cues and sound effects that happen about the ship, and the one responsible for that is the FX demon. Essentially he is the sound man for the FF world. The FX demon only "exists" if there is really no logical (or even illogical) reason that a certain effect noise should come about other than someone creating it, or if it's just funny to point out how a sound could only exist if someone were standing off-camera to create it.

The inherent chaos of the ship and the existence of the E.B.N.E.s means that the character have at least partial access to the workings of their world. In certain times they may call upon the FX demon to provide them with the correct sound effect that they are looking for.
