Mordecai was outed as a super-powered individual, apparently in the employment of the devil, or a demonic agent, pulling strings behind the scenes. He was defeated by the Harbor City heroes, and imprisoned inside an empty cargo container box on a ship on its way to China. As he was unconscious and bleeding at the time, it's not thought that he could have survived the trip.
