There is no luck, only the Emperor's will. -Marlowe Dynasty Motto

When the dynasty began, the Marlowe were only a small fleet of chartist ships brought together by dynasty founder Regias Marlowe to act as merchant transports in a lowly corner of the Calixis Sector. They continued this way for centuries, only growing slightly as each patriarch of the family refused to join the growing Tellurian Combine, wanting to stay independent, even if not particularly prosperous.

Noticing the family's very pointed stance of refusal, when agents of the Inquisition began to dismantle the cult behind the Combine, intrigues were put into place to force open conflict between them. Gathering all their ships to repel the blockade of one of their major mining planets, the Marlowes managed to barely defeat the combine fleet, taking the former flagship, a well-appointed Heavy Cruiser, as their own and renaming it Throne's Providence.

When Throne's Providence and the other remains of ships were searched and salvaged, the heretical nature of their former occupants was thrust into the open, much to the Inquisition's chagrin. Local Ecclesiarchs were "encouraged" to lend their support for the granting of a Warrant of Trade, and the newly born Dynasty was calmly pointed in the direction of unexplored space.

A few generations later finds the Marlowe dynasty very quickly becoming a subtle, if successful force for commerce in the Koronus Expanse. Recently, extensive needed repairs from an unfortunate warp translation accident has rendered the dynasty flagship planet-bound. While his father sits at the family seat of power in the Calixis Sector, <My Character> has been given their next-best ship, and a mandate to explore previously uncharted areas for opportunities, lest the dynasty's fortunes calcify around their old merchant trade routes.
