Aka beings you can play.

(For those of you reading at home: I'm flexible on applying Species/Talents to characters. This means things like orcs being able to take something without an Intelligence penalty if they want.)

Pan[edit]

All pan are one species supposedly descended from a mythical "first people".

Most Common[edit]

  • Humans: Like we know, only with choice of anime hair and eye colors, and a desire not to live far from a body of water like a river, lake, or sea.
  • Half-beasts: Anything from catgirls to full furries. They live anywhere irrespective of animal resemblance. Children can sometimes resemble an animal like neither of the parents or any ancestors. Most people consider "true" half-beasts to be the mammalian ones (and certain draconic and griffinoid ones) and lump reptilians/amphibians and avian types into their own groups.

Significantly Common minorities[edit]

  • Elves: Anime style tall with long horizontally pointed ears humans. Characterized by liking to live in more extreme and isolated environments.
  • Orcs: Come in three varieties: Tolkieneque northern ones with green skin; Warcraft western ones with red skin; and tall, lanky blue southern ones. When orcs of two different ethnicities have children the skin color mixes like light: green and red form yellow, red and blue form magenta, and blue and green form cyan.
  • "Little people"/pech/halfling/dwarves/dwarfs/gnomes/goblins: If it's short and looks like a human it's one of these. Except goblins, who look weirder.
  • Saurians: Reptilian/amphibian half-beasts.
  • Winged-folk: Avian half-beasts.
  • Centaurs: Includes many varieties of four-legged animal, not just horses. Since centaurs rarely breed except among their own kinds it's unknown whether they are a variety of half-beast or their own race.
  • Merfolk: The kind with fish tails.

Minorities[edit]

  • Giants/ogres: Look like giant humans, but have a wider array of skin colors and occasional elemental powers. Ogres are shorter giants with horns.
  • Spider-centaurs: As with centaurs this is more an issue of breeding than race expression.
  • Plant-people: They're plant-like, yet they are pan. No one knows how.

Other Species[edit]

Beasts[edit]

  • Dragons: The usual big dangerous things. Though not always reptilian: avian and mammalian dragons are also common.
  • Unicorns: Horse, deer's legs, lion's tail, slightly longer neck, slightly shorter head. Quite friendly, they just prefer to live in places the average pan doesn't journey to.
  • Griffins: Are stereotyped as angry warriors, but actually make good scholars if not constantly exposed to aggression.

Others[edit]

  • Slimes: Come in humanoid and droplet shapes. The latter kind often live in their own villages, a bit like hobbits.
  • Constructs: Also known as "jiva". Spontaneous animation happens as often as a wizard in a workshop. There's rumored to be a hidden city of them somewhere.
  • Undead: Stairs to the homes of the dead supposedly lie around every corner. Most religions hold that being dead is like being alive only more free of responsibilities, so the dead coming back to life is just a free spirit making a mistake. Legend tells of a city of the undead in the utter west guarding the Big Gate To The Beyond.
