Zrith himself is not quite clear where he came from. The way he tells it - with much characteristic glee - is that one day his alleged human father found the infant half-drow abandoned on his doorstep, accompanied by a short note that simply stated his name, parentage and the mother's complete lack of interest. The man promptly picked him up, took him away and left him at the door of a local orphanage. They didn't want him, either, and handed him over to a passing elf, who reluctantly took him home and passed him on to a second cousin, and ''she'' raised him as her own (if only for lack of anyone else to dump him on, as she claims).
