The Lords of Chains
Supposedly the great sorcerers of the Lost Golden Age who elevated themselves to godhood . . . . . and then dedicated their time as deities to spreading chaos and destruction. Their worshipers say they do this so that people will "know their place" and not "overreach" and destroy their civilization, but everyone else believes the Lords of Chains destroyed their own civilization and keep people down so that no one else can ascend like they did.
