The crew is tasked with finding a missing research vessel, the Shìjiàn Shìjiè, in the Kjeln asteroid field in the Georgia system and returning with the ship's Data Core and any survivors.

The Tear (a swath of empty black in the middle of the Kjeln field that makes it look C-shaped rather than oval or round).

• Hera (a planet orbiting the Murphy Protostar: Georgia system. Hera is an almost entirely agricultural planet situated midway between the Outer Planets and the Core. Hera supplies much of the food distributed throughout the 'verse, and is Captain Mel Kraus' home planet).
