Unwelcome Truth

When we’d finally gotten everything settled and stowed away and Joshua was closeted with Kiera in med bay, I stripped out of everything I wore and dumped it in the wash. Then I hit the showers to scrub the day off me.

There was quite a bit to scrub off. The drinking, the dancing, the groping afterward. The giggles and the squeals, the bump and grind as I led the man on before slapping him unconscious with the patch. That little insidious glow inside me that enjoyed the power of carnality, even as my skin was crawling. Even as I now sobbed for that last bit of innocence lost.

The water turned cold and still I scrubbed, until I couldn’t stand for shivering. Accepting that nothing could clean what I’d sullied, I shut everything off and quit the shower for my quarters, there to suit up and wait in the lounge for news of Joshua.
