Return to Time of the Green Star

Currency of the Round World

Gold and silver are as rare and precious in the Round World as in our own. Most ‘gold pieces’ (gps) are small disks of ‘green gold’ ( weak gold-copper alloy). They are often crudely and locally minted. The symbol of Jaser is frequently stamped on such money to ward against the evils of usury or foul play.

Larger, pure gold ‘King’s Mint’ coins are worth between 10-100gps each, depending on the year of their issue. Only merchants (and thieves) seem to have ready knowledge of these coin’s value.

The most valuable coins known are Turban ‘desert moons’, heavy gold-platinum disks worth several hundred gps apiece.
