Caralot (formerly d'Lyrandar)

"Tentacles…tentacles…Hold on a minute…just…got…to write this…down…"

Hermaphrodite half-elf female

Ultimate Transmuter (Shifter career) [look it up on the class threads yourself] 20

Caralot comes from an alternate Eberron in which a disease drove the armies of the Five Nations to slaughter themselves, then transformed almost everyone in Cyre into “monstrous” creatures. These events were apparently caused by something called the Black Water, which rises up from Khyber and has deific transformative powers. Naturally this Eberron developed a fascination with alteration magic and eventually genetics. Caralot was part of an exchange program with House Vidalis. While there she witnessed first hand the process of creating new animals. She decided to study the magic of transmutation, eventually completing an advanced degree in Beastial Engineering from Arcanix. Her thesis was a combination of mind flayer and beholder, which failed spectacularly. However, Arcanix gave her the degree so long as she promised never to come back. Caralot has a freaky history of crossbreeds, and has amassed a great collection of knowledge on the interactions of blood in said crossbreeds, that got her thrown out of every magical organization on Eberron, and even her family stripped her of her name. Finally all she could do was take a job at House Vidalis “collecting samples”, which she likes doing way too much. While on assignment she stumbled through a portal and ended up on the Forgotten Freedom.

Sort of like a Ketler for genetics, Caralot was given a small space aboard the ship. She pays for her room and board by enhancing hired redshirts and creating new kinds of redshirt. She also frequently comments on how the crew could use some “enhancements”. When they find out that her own “enhancement” is distinctly male they mostly decline. Caralot has records—even a few films—detailing her observations during breeding experiments. Some crew see this as the dragon’s hoard of male fascination, and make frequent attempts to access it. What they don’t know is that even Kantash doesn’t want to look at these things.

Caralot also takes care of her own Crystal:

Crys 15 HD Sacrine-Sweet Girl [Abberration]

Caralot has altered Crystal to serve as a guard for her records, for the good of the crew. It’s much better if they get nauseous from Crys than see the records.
