Set somewhere on the east coast of the United States - possibly New Jersey - Freedom City's history dates back to colonial times when superhero|super heroes first appeared there during the Revolutionary War.  People with super-powers have existed throughout Earth’s history, but have become more prominent and numerous in the waning years of the 20th Century.  The extra-dimensional tyrant known as Omega has launched invasion attempts on the city in the past but has yet to maintain a beachead.  The year of BEYOND FREEDOM is 2045ad, several decades in the future. Freedonians and the world have bathed in the sun of a new golden age free from criminal hate. Twenty-five years ago the vile fiend Atomic Brain set out to bring glorious radiation to the Freedom World, gathering a villainous horde he was faced by the world's greatest heroes lead by the Freedom League. No one would win that day. A great portion of New York State was devistated by the massive blast. Yet from the carnage grew a new understanding - what is told to be unlimited power now fuels America and her allies, as the fields of irrandiated ash is now harvested, through an ingenious technology developed by Dr. Hamilton. For twenty-five years it has been an age undreampt. But as with all things time stagnates. The Fens' corruption has festered... Mercs from across the world flock to Freedom City - New England's...the world's hub of commerce and influence. For Freedom to survive, she needs heroes...
