A PbP campaign of quasi-historical viking misadventure.

The Game[edit]

The Game World[edit]

Because I wanted to maintain the Viking feeling without getting too bogged down by too much historical stuff, the game world is composed of countries and cultures that contain idealized magical places to adventure in. For example the Viking lands contain what was actually there in real life along with giants, monsters, and locations from myths.

This also applies to other places so if you travel to Egypt for instance, you'll find a place of high magic, pyramids, and a pharoah who may or not be an actual God. Or perhaps you'll travel to the land of the Jews and meet an epic level cleric with a one time use self-rez.

Time is also sorta fluid for the purposes of our adventure, so even though two cultures may not have been around at the same time in reality, if it's more fun to actually encounter a people who missed each other by a few hundred years then fun trumps historical accuracy. That if anything is how I'll want to run the game: fun matters more than X.

Game Premise & Background Info[edit]

The small town of Norsica lies in an isolated valley in the far northern reaches of the lands controlled by King Magnus the Wise. Though small, it has become well known in certain circles as a place where all are welcome and accepted. From disgraced warriors, runaway slaves from exotic lands, priests to unknown gods, even a few "monsters".

In this diverse and lonely town, a group of youths has grown strong and wise in many things. These youths have built a local reputation as adventurers and this reputation has made its way to the ears of the King himself. Being a man of great curiosity and perhaps fancying himself an adventurer, he wishes to meet the youngsters from Norsica who have garnered such fame in such a godsforsaken place.

And so with full provisions and instructions to speak well of the town, the youths are sent on a long journey to the south, where the hall of the great King stands as a testament to his rule. The journey will be difficult and the obstacles quite trying. But this journey will be just the start of what promises to be a grand adventure.
