Darius Arxnae

...is the son of a Grey Slaad and the Mind Mage Arhexus, who is in turn one of the elder brothers of the famous Arxanae clan. To understand Darius, you need to understand his family. He is an Arxnae, a member of the Junior ( a pseudonym for “Bastard” ) branch of Clan Arxanae. His Uncles and Father are Wizards all, of varying powers and power, and they have established an Arcane Clan holding sworn to the Perrinlands on the southern Border. The Clan and its allies, dependants and followers are the result of several decades of magic study, adventuring and exploration (including Planar wandering).

Darius is the result of a Grey Slaad who assumed the guise of an adventurer, initially as a spy for a Death Slaad they had angered in their travels, and who was plotting a complex revenge. She held this guise for years, and turned on her Slaad employer by revealing who she was to Arhexus, by then her lover. The resulting conflict led to her death or disappearance (no one can be quite sure), and Darius grew up in the huge extended family of his uncles and their offspring.

His initiation into the clans Adult life was the same as everyone elses: he was booted out for a year and a day, and had to make his own way in the world. It was during this Away Year that he became a Rogue, but more importantly, uncovered a knack for psychic ability. When he returned, he undertook training as a psychic warrior through a friend of the family, and became a guard/companion for the clan. Over the last two years, he has begun to work as an Arcane Courier for the clan and other employers, moving select items from place-to-place discreetly. This coincides with a little inconspicuous intelligence gathering for the Uncles…

Darius is unique in his heritage, but Clan Arxanae is no stranger to other bloods, including otherplanar. Amongst his cousins (and there are many), Darius counts a Half-Elf, Two Aasimar and a few with Celestial bloodlines. He is well aware of his heritage, how it makes him appear to others, and how to deal with this.

He is well travelled and has a few select friends amongst many peoples along Perrinlands borders. He has followed in the steps of his father to a certain extent, but favours the Martial aspect of his Psionic heritage.

Darius was on a mission to deliver certain Arcane ingredients to the Dwarf holding in the hills above Altendorf. This was not the first time he had passed this way, and he knows people amongst the Dwarves and Gnomes in the area.
