Everyman PL: 10 (160pp)

[[1]] [2] Story "Put aside for the moment the rulership of gods, strip away the powerseekers and the paragons, the mighty magicians and the mutants and you have humanity. All alone, yet together - a flock that needs guidance, protecting...ruling. That’s what they would have you think. I prefer to think of Us as a pack, and every now and then that pack pushes forth its collective will and says "No!". Every now and then poor old humanity creates a hero out of nothing more than the collective need to have one, to stand against its innermost fears and outermost enemies. I'm now an explicit part of that will, I tap into it and draw from it and do what’s right. For the everyman, for humanity. For now, that collective need and will is me...the Everyman." Interview with Karl Jung, 1919.

Daniel Kane is an undying man who can tap into the collective abilities of humanity to face down their greatest threats.

"There is a tribe in the lower reaches of Peru that know how to hold their breath for 10 minutes. There’s an old woman and her pupils who can enter a state where their wounds wont bleed. The Ngala of Australia can track a man across anything. I borrow from them and am eternally grateful."

Also known in WWII as "The man who never stops", he shrugs off things that should harm or kill him with ease. Also a nice guy with a taste for culture who has travelled the world, delighting and merging with the myriad cultures of earth.

He has wandered the world since his assumption of the Everyman at Verdun in 1915, when he was killed and rose again. Since then he has walked with the humble and famous, all the time drawn to defend humanity against outside threats – even though those threats are sometimes drawn from inside ‘himself’ - his people, humanity. When some idiot mage has summoned powers from beyond, he is there. When one of the pack goes feral and genocidal, he is there.

The only sorrow he carries is that he cannot defend humanity against itself.

In person, Everyman is urbane and charming, able to slip into any culture and subculture. He speaks any language he needs to, understands the subtleties of Russian mafia interconnections as well as he breathes the tribal links of New Guinea highlanders. He needs no disguise – he is what he needs to be.

Currently based in the U.S.A. due to it being a particular locus for the ‘waves’ that created him and others like him, he has been disturbed for years by a vague feeling of dread…something that comes to him from the collective unconscious. Following his instinct and these misgivings, he has been carefully following a plan to bring together many of the Next Wave…although he is still unsure why…
