Background
For the last five years the Nentir Vale has seen relative peace under the benign rulership of its local Heroes. Together you have battled against deranged cultists, feral orcs and vicious gnolls, explored haunted Dureghar Halls and even crossed into the Feywild and Shadowfell to protect your homes from the threats it has faced.
Your work has brought you peace for a little while but it can never last. In the west the night sky is lit by dark flames. Firetop Mountain, dormant for over 200 years is once again active, belching fire and smoke. Travelers in the area claim that ogres and giants are on the move, rarely seen this far south.
