One of the few redshirts that hasn't actually done anything horrible, including ever kill anyone (his reasoning is "if you kill them, then they don't know you beat them"), he still dies a lot.  Thanks to foresight* and actually being an intern on the ship (meaning they have to return him at some point), he has been resurrected each time.  This has had the effect of letting him actually be free of most enchantments on the ship, including the mark of justice, since such enchantments generally disappear with death.
