Investigation Closes on Swiss “Scientific Necromancy” Case

Republic and Canton of Geneva, Swiss Federation

Investigations closed this week into allegations of “Scientific Necromancy” associated with several murders and the removal of numerous corpses from graveyards and charnel houses in the countryside outside of the city of Geneva.

Swiss officials determined that the murders were unrelated to the grave robberies, which appear to be primarily associated with a nearby Collège de Genève’s Medical school. No arrests have been made in these robberies, but local officials have increased their watch on the local graveyards and recent burials.

Local constabulary have determined that at least 4 of the murders were related to a vendetta launched by heretofore unknown heir to a local landholding family who had sought to destroy or discredit all existing heirs before making a claim. A local serving woman, who had been executed for one of the murders, has been cleared of all charges. The murderer remains at large, but is thought to have left the area once his plot was uncovered.

These crimes took on broader notoriety following the discovery of several unpublished scientific treatises of one of the subjects, one Victor Frankenstein, suggesting investigation into magical galvanism for the purpose of preservation and revivification of animals and humans.

Earlier this week scientists with the Swiss Collège de Calvin published a review of the recovered scientific materials and while noting that the work claims discoveries of both scientific and thaumaturgical nature, none of the darker arts typically associated with the practice of Necromancy were present. They also disputed most of Frankenstein’s findings indicating that there is no scientific evidence to indicate a link between galvanism or similar processes and revivification.

Henry Clerval, a close friend of the Frankestein family has stated that, “The papers were written during one of Victor’s periodic depressions and cannot be taken in any way as factual, but rather the fantasies of a innocent man who has seen the deaths of too many, too close to him.”
