*'''CURRENT CONCEPT INFO''':
substantial supervillain some 12-15 years ago ... not a huge big-time one, but one perhaps worthy of several issues in the same superhero team's comic book. He was ultimately defeated through the combined efforts of several heroes, and his floating high-tech lair/vehicle was sent careening into an unrecoverable location (the bottom of the sea, an active volcano, whatever's most suitable for the area.) He was presumed dead, apparently because the heroes in question had never read any comic books themselves.
Naturally, this presumption was incorrect. On the brink of death, he was stabilized and 'repaired' by the hordes of robots and machines infesting his hideout. He has spent the last twelve years improving and expanding upon himself, to the point that he's now essentially a living brain in a powerful robot body ... and plotting an exquisite revenge against the heroes who brought him low.
That was the plan, anyway. To his frustration and rage, he ultimately emerged trimphant from his tomb, only to find that the heroes on whom he'd intended to avenge himself had all been slaughtered by the invading alien overlords six months before. He's now got over a decade of pent-up destructive impulses and nowhere to direct them ... so, what the hell, why not focus on the bastards who cost him his revenge?
I don't really know how this guy could start the campaign in jail. He has been effectively imprisoned for years, though, so that might serve the same purpose.
Also, I had a question: When are we thinking about having this game? It seems like we're talking Friday, but I remember at least a few other people discussing the possibility of doing it during the week, say, Wednesday. I know that would be a lot better for me, and it has the fringe benefit of being a day that most people won't have to worry about overscheduling. Any thoughts on that?

''These flags are things that tell the GM what the PLAYERS are interested in doing with their characters in the game. • REAL NAME: Gustav Mahler

 • CONCEPT: Superintelligent Simian Gadgeteer

 • CURRENT CONCEPT INFO: Brilliant scientist from an alternate Earth in which apes rule the planet, cast into a horrifying 'Planet of the Humans' by a botched teleportation experiment, nearly killed by human heroes and reborn as a machine-controlling cyborg monstrosity.

 • BIOGRAPHY: For years, Mahler repeatedly threatened the East Coast of the United States with annihilation as the Silverback, claiming huge ransoms of money and technology in an attempt to return to his home dimension, until he was defeated and sent crashing to his apparent demise in an offshore volcano of his own creation. Swearing revenge, the badly maimed but still living super-ape spent the next twelve years entombed beneath a thousand tons of cooled lava, constructing himself a newer, stronger body in which to take his vengeance. Finally, his work complete, he emerged from his watery grave to engage his foes, only to discover that they had been slain by the Star Khan's forces just a few scant weeks before.

What is your villainous /heroic motivation?[edit]

There was a time when Mahler's motivation was a simple one: to escape this world of filthy, grasping humans and return to his own, where apes reigned supreme and humans were confined to zoos and medical testing centers. That changed dramatically when he was nearly killed by human heroes and forced to reconstruct over 80% of his own body. It changed again when he emerged triumphant, only to find that his vengeance had been stolen from him. In the short term, his new goals involve wreaking terrible, bloody revenge on whatever foes are unfortunate enough to first present themselves. In the long term? That remains to be seen.

Character Flags[edit]

Master plans. Technology-heavy minions, devices and strongholds. These things are Mahler's bread and butter, and any plan he concocts will necessarily incorporate a lot of them.

Your greatest defeat[edit]

Twelve years ago, the mayors of four coastal cities all received the same message: They were each to wire $100 million to the same Swiss bank account within 72 hours, or their seaside metropoli would be devastated by a tsunami the likes of which had never before been seen. A band of Freedom City's finest, led by the Bowman, sprang into action, traced the message to the nefarious Silverback, and quickly tracked the perfidious primate to an enormous hovercraft located 100 miles offshore, just above a long-forgotten undersea volcano in which the ape had rigged enough nuclear explosive to trigger a massive eruption. A fierce battle ensued and the hovercraft was sent careening into the mouth of the volcano, where the subsequent explosion buried it under tons of rock ... not to mention nearly a qusrter-mile of water. The heroes left, believing themselves to be victorious, unaware that the ape still lived, and would return...
