Long ago Moloch was exiled from Fernia by his own kind for his vile deeds and nature. How he managed to horrify a race such as the Efreeti or the other races of a realm of fire and evil such as Fernia is an issue probably best left unexplored by mortals.

In Eberron he embarked on plans of conquest and domination, joining with the Lords of Dust in their plans of manipulation of mortal races and release of the Rajahs (or control of their power).

It was during the early years of human colonization, during the lifetime of Lhaazar, that Moloch was finally bound by his own people into a lamp, forced to grant three wishes to each mortal who finds it, until he had done so one thousand and one times. And then he would be free once more. He swore vengeance against those he had been compelled to serve, intending to punish those who had made him their slave with an eternity of pain and humiliation. But the lifespans of mortals are fleeting, and only the last, whose wishes released him, yet lives. Her name is Kirielle D'Vadalis. She obtained the lamp through the manipulations of the Deck of Many Things, drawing the Moon and Flames cards together, thus setting Moloch against her until such time as one or the other is dead.
