| − | Just as Mahora academy was built around the World Tree as a source of magic power, Raleigh was built on top of another ancient site, where the eldritch horror Yug'Ghanath was sealed away nearly a millenia ago by a combined Native American and Viking army. It was later released by inhabitants of the Roanoke Colony (Some of you may believe the colony of Roanoke was actually on Roanoke island. That's what they want you to think.) when they tried to dig a cellar, but the site is still magically powerful. Yug'Ghanath now serves as the school football team's mascot, though most students just think it's a guy in an extremely elaborate costume*. The labyrinthine caves and corridors under the school are popular with the spelunking club as well as students wishing to break curfew.
