Appearance

Noonan is a heavily muscled dwarf towering at 4' 3". He is about 55 years old and sports a thick black beard. Across his back he bears the marks of the lash. He's often dirty with thickly matted hair from long treks through the wood. In his shapeshifted forms he most often resembles a wolf or a bear.

History

Noonan is quiet and contemplative, given to expressing himself through actions rather than loud words. Over generations, Noonan's clan of dwarves has been pushed out of their traditional homes in the mountains and into the surrounding hills. They have turned their natural engineering talents towards dams and irrigation channels instead of tunnels through stone.

In order to ensure that their constructions do not destroy too much of the natural world, the small clan must send several students every generation to the local druid's circle for training. This is a harsh requirement for many of that Circle are evil gnolls or (at best) neutral lizardfolk. Their training is unforgiving, and they teach a more primitive form of druid magic that focuses on fluid shapeshifting at the expense of a more ethereal bond with nature.

Noonan was captured by goblins while in his predator form and endured the lash for many days as they attempted to 'train' him, knowing that they would kill him if they discovered he was not an animal. He was so grateful to the others for starting the rebellion that he swore eternal loyalty to the them and has supported them in destroying unnatural abominations since. Noonan is Neutral and a follower of Obad-Hai.
