Relationship: Jonathan Evergreen (Husband)

Quirk/Phobia: "Imposter Syndrome" — Gloria is perfectly aware she isn't actually quite as skilled as her preternatural success can make her seem. A lack of confidence can hinder her powers, since her probability-bending depends on her willing reality to work how she wants it to.

Quirk: Uncertainty — Lady Luck's educated guesses are more likely to be right then anybody else's, but they're not always right. When she's trying something practical, she generally finds out pretty quick whether she was right or not. When she's just trying to tell when something is true, though?

When Lady Luck's Shot in the Dark power doesn't quite stop her from a near miss on a knowledge check, she might think something incorrect is true. If it contributes to a near hit, she might doubt her correct answer. (This is generally irrelevant on Technology checks, where it's usually immediately apparent whether she succeeds or fails.)

Gloria Ross lived a charmed life. Things always tended to work out to her benefit. She did well in school--better than she probably should have. Things generally went her way. Things were easy for her.

Gloria had always been interested in machines, so as a young adult she worked as an auto mechanic while pursuing degrees in engineering. In that occupation, she had two notably high-profile clients. One was Jonathan, a member of the notorious Evergreen family. There were a wide variety of nasty, if sometimes seemingly contradictory, stories about how the Evergreens became as fabulously wealthy as they were. After spending some time with Jonathan, Gloria became convinced that they were all probably true. But Jonathan was something of the black sheep of the family by virtue of being more of a white hat, and the two did hit it off after their initial chance meeting. While not a part of any of his family's businesses and largely cut off from them, being an Evergreen heir was more than enough for him to be considered "reasonably wealthy" by Gloria's standards. Her too, since he eventually became her husband.

The other interesting client was a NASA engineer who was embarrassed that he couldn't figure out why his car wouldn't start; while she assured him that there was no reason he should be, since this was very much in her wheelhouse and not his, he was nonetheless impressed when she "showed him up" by easily solving his problem. When he found out she was studying engineering, he started following her educational career. Having an existing NASA scientist already invested in her skills proved helpful in joining the organization a few years down the line. Frankly, it gave her career a boost over probably more qualified applicants. She was good enough, sure, but not sufficiently exceptional for the opportunities she was extended.

And that's how Gloria Evergreen came to be on the Pegasus, feeling somewhat in over her head. But things would work out; they always did. In the aftermath of the incident, it almost seemed like Gloria's luck had run out. Most of the others seemed to be experiencing some kind of profound change while she... was not. It didn't take long, though, before she started succeeding at almost impossible tasks. Taking wild, only slightly educated guesses that turned out correct. Trying to patch some of the damage to the craft only to discover she could easily repair the damage entirely with no help. She tried drawing from a deck of cards and guessing at the outcome; she was usually wrong, of course, but right far more often than she should have been.

Shortly after returning to Earth, Gloria encountered her first sliver-empowered villain. Perceiving her as the weak link of the "Horsemen", an impossibly strong man came after her. It was barely theoretically possible for her to knock him out, if she hit him just right and he fell and hit his head; nigh-impossible in its improbability but possible.

So she did.

Since then Gloria's life has been better then ever. Her brother- and sister-in-law were both imprisoned for financial crimes, and her husband was his parents' only heir when they were suddenly (but not terribly tragically) killed in an accident caused by unsafe conditions at one of the factories they owned. Jonathan has, to nobody's surprise, proved far more worthy of the family fortune. Evergreen Technologies is now far more ethically and sustainably managed, and much of the remaining profit goes to more charitable endeavors. The couple does remain more than reasonably wealthy now, though, and Gloria's interest in cars is now focused on maintaining and fixing up the ones she owns (although she still helps out in the garage where she used to work when they need an extra hand).

Gloria had gone from a fortunate individual to a person whose presence bent the laws of probability in her favor. Things had always tended to work out to her benefit. Now, Lady Luck's good fortune was predictable enough to count on, and made the barely-possible probable.
