Background

Unlike some in the supernatural world, Tien was raised into his heritage for as long as he could remember. The offspring of oine of the great Celestial Dragons, he was tutored by Tashi and Feng, two powerful spirit servants of his father. While his childhood wasn't entirely different than any other child of privilege, there were times where the differences were all-too-clear. While he lacked for nothing, he was also reminded that his destiny was to become the God-Emperor of mankind in his father's footsteps, and any failure was a failure against the future of the world itself. Whether that was actually true or not was never mentioned. Tien was mentored in the arts of war and leadership, which he greatly enjoyed, though the concept of being sent into an arranged marriage like a piece of cattle for power's sake was a little mortifying. In all things, Tien's primary concern was to make his father proud, and live up to the destiny set out before him.

One of the many things Tien was taught the basics of by his mentors was the existence of other supernatural creatures, and the fact that they had their own abmitions, agendas and hierarchies, which might conflict with his own. Of course, being the scion of one of the Emperors of Heaven, this didn't seem like anything worth worrying over. Unfortunately, other forces didn't seem to agree that a young dragonspawn wasn't something to take note of. Only a year or two after Tien began to actually come into his legacy as a Dragon-scion, his home was attacked. he was unsure of what exactly came to collect him, but he was reasonably sure they were Jade Court vampires (though he has never been able to confirm it). The creatures made no secret of the fact that they were there for him, but his guardians sacrificed their lives to allow him time to escape. Alone and on his own in unfamiliar places, Tien fled for the closest large city, losing himself in the teeming masses of Hong Kong.
