The Shadows Cyre and its sequel Wrath of the Lich Queen are RPG Play by Posts that follow the adventures of Eberron heroes that struggle are attempting to recover in the wake of the Last War. The adventure series begins with the foundation of the Watchmen, an organization devoted to stopping the Last War from occurring again, in the newly created County of Shadowfast. The organization proceeds to have numerous adventures against various parties fighting to gain advantage in the turbulent climate of the world.

The series is currently on its second thread.

Examples of tropes in the series are:

  • The Ace (Ethan)
  • Always Chaotic Evil (played with somewhat but undead and demons in the world of Eberron seem to be genuinely as bad as people think them to be---except Mayalanthas)
  • Bad Ass (Trent)
  • Cloud cuckoolander (Maya)
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita (Muffin, Fury, Erandis D'Vol)
  • Fantasy Counterpart (Thrane is Spain, Breland is USA/Britain, Aundair is France, and Karrnath is pretty much Ruritania)
  • Heel Face Turn (Melissa and Lindsey)
  • Ho Yay (A running gag with Cassius and Trent)
  • The Kingdom (Caer Shadowfast)
  • Light is Not Good (Pyriel remains the quintessential example as does Cassius to a lesser extent as the "evil" Paladin)
  • Lolicon (Marie is a hilarious example of this)
  • Magnificent Bastard (Pyriel, Cassius, Merrix D'Cannith III, Shadowspawn and a few others)
  • Cute Monster Girl (Too many to list)
  • The Ojou (Samantha and Marie, later Samantha and Maevac)
  • Petting Zoo People (Ben's harem, Marie, Karin, Thelia, and other examples of "cute" Shifters)
  • Robot Girl (River and the other Humanforged)
  • Rule of Cool (Siber can defeat Daelkyr and gods through this. Patch managed to defeat the Lord of Blades in hand to hand combat)
  • The Ruri (Karin, specifically she's more a Loli BITCH than snarky)
  • Ruritania (Karrnath and Shadowfast both)
  • She Is All Grown Up (played with in every conceivable level with Marie and her various identical twins. Karin is a reverse of this, showing Thelia as a cute Loli)
  • True Art Is Angsty (A defining trope of the game)
  • The Undefeated (The Watchmen themselves)
  • Unwanted Harem (Need you ask?)
  • Wangst (Pretty much anything involving Thelia. Cassius used to be this way but seems to have gotten better)
  • Well Intentioned Extremist (The Lord of Blades, Pyriel, and arguably Cassius himself)
  • The Worf Effect (Cassius exists to get his ass kicked by the bad guy of the week)
  • Wrench Wench
  • White Haired Pretty Boy (Cassius)
  • Xanatos Roulette (several examples but the most egregious being Pyriel tricking everyone into making him a Solar Deva, convincing Maya to give him her Divine Spark, and having everyone murder Zhengyi as well as Shadowspawn so that he could seize their power for himself to become a God)
