A Game of Thorns

Facts are chains that bind perception and fetter truth. For a man can remake the world if he has a dream and no facts to cloud his mind.

"You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into... the World of Darkness." - Rod Sterling

Sound familiar? I added my own little bit at the end there, but no truer words have been uttered by man. Through this door you will find strange things that will bring you both heavenly bliss and hellish pain. In order to survive, you will need a weapon sharper than a razor and faster than a bullet: Your mind. If you don't think, you will die. If you think slowly, you will die. If you think of others, you will die. If you sneeze while hiding from a werewolf under a desk at Southside, You..Will..Die.

The only question is how quickly? Friends can easily turn on you and enemies may surprise you. That 13 year old girl in the corner you just saved from a raving homeless man in the alley is possessed by a daemon and just murdered her parents with a butcher knife. That homeless man? Former CEO of an international charity organization that funnels extra funding into orphanages.

Remember this and remember it well: You are not friends. You have not known each other for ages, you are not old buddies from your college years, you are not father and son. You do not trust each other. Trust leads to betrayal leads to death. And once you see that light at the end of the tunnel called hope, remember this also: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment. Keep an eye on your enemies, but be just as wary of your so-called friends.

  • Go to www.rpol.net and get an account. Its a website used to play tabletop games over the internet, post by post, on a forum.

http://www.rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=47026&date=1308923375 is the game I've started for us. Use it to ask me questions in the OOC thread and further the story in the IC thread between our gaming sessions.

  • Type before < br >'s. A < br > is the HTML equivalent of hitting the ENTER button.
  • On Attributes, Skills, and any other data-bit that requires empty and filled circle, you must simply copy and paste other filled/empty circles. If you add a filled dot to a skill, please remember to delete an empty dot.
