A Night of Much Ado

This marks Terri's introduction into our campaign as Miss Rebecca Spencer. Welcome aboard, Terri!

Dear Papa,

I do not wish you to worry so I am sending this missive, reluctantly, to inform you that I may not be here upon your return. The details will engender such incredulity that I shall not imprint them upon this page lest you think me a candidate for Bedlam, but rest assured I've placed a full accounting in the box for you.

Much has occurred since you left Cairo. The night of our investment dinner the Sheik took it upon himself to deliver an injunction barring us from working in the dig further without supervision from the local ... I hesitate to say constabulary, being as you know the sort of ruffians are most likely to be hired for this job. The most I can do now is to instruct the supervisor of the digging team to continue their work very carefully until your return -- and Papa, you must return quickly. I have a notion that there is far more to be discovered in the site than we had ever imagined, though the only thing fueling this thought is the interest the Sheik himself has shown.

At the dinner I chanced to meet an intrepid little band of adventurers and I am going to accompany this party on their travels for a time. We have interests in common and their retinue consists of enough ladies that I shall not be as constrained as I usually am while you are away. Indeed I find them to be most charming companions, and they wish to call upon my expertise and familiarity with Egypt to travel the Nile and visit the sites of interest.

Papa, do travel swiftly and carefully. I dislike leaving William alone here, and I am quite certain there are underground chambers we have yet to discover in the dig site. My love to you, and I shall send a letter as soon as we light anywhere long enough that a courier may catch up to me.

--Rebecca
