Anya, whose last name means "nobody," is the ghost of Europe. She travels the continent and beyond on secret missions of espionage and assassination and no one can say in service to whom, possibly not even Anya herself; assignments come in the form of phonograph disc recordings of a heavily disguised voice and arrive either through teammate Aleksandra Danilova's network of contacts or messenger service.

Whether or not this mystery bothers Anya is unknown for she is, herself, one of Europe's greatest mysteries. Almost no one living can say for certain where she was born, or when, or where she came by her prodigious abilities, such as her perfectly flawless marksmanship. To most, the only reliable "facts" of her existance are that she's Russian and in her early twenties, but even these certainties are muddied by her mastery of disguise and vocal mimicry. She has been known to appear as anyone from an aging, wrinkled Italian grandmother to a young British man-about-town. These skills, combined with her prodigious talent for stealth, means she can be almost anywhere at almost anytime with no one else the wiser.

When not "on duty," Anya's something of a tomboy, wearing men's pants, shirts and boots altered for her fit and keeping her red hair in a short, flapper's bob. Posessed of a sarcastic wit and a fondness for music and photography, Anya makes easy friends. She spends most of her time with teammates Aleksandra Danilova and Maria Fyodorovna, and has a special fondness for Brendan Lewis Cook (who she calls "papa"), but she may be closest to her two white-coated wolves, Shvybzik and Jimmy. In the field, she typically carries a Mosin-Nagant 1891 rifle, modified with a longer, heavier barrel for increased range.
