A Chuubostuck Resource

The Medium[edit]

  • All time loops must close successfully
  • Events wait to occur until the right person arrives

The Medium is the land beyond SBURB, where heroes are transported by the game's magic in order to challenge the Ultimate Riddle. The Medium's properties apply to all of its worlds, acting as an overarching metaphysical structure in which other events can take place.

Travel between the worlds of the Medium typically relies on Gates, although powerful Heroes may find ways around this restriction.

The Facets of the Medium[edit]

Prospit[edit]

  • Things aren't as bad as they seem
  • Sacrifices must be made
  • Things end as they begin

The Golden World, orbiting Skaia at the heart of the Medium, Prospit is the home of the Prospitians, who defend Skaia against destruction. They see visions of the past and future in the clouds of Skaia as their moon passes into eclipse.

Derse[edit]

  • Laws must be followed
  • Trust must be misplaced
  • Secrets must be discovered

The Dark World, at the outer edge of the Medium, near the Furthest Ring. Derse is the home of the Dersites, who make war to destroy Skaia and prevent the solving of the Ultimate Riddle. Particularly sensitive Dersites can hear the whispers of those they call the Noble Circle of Horrorterrors, who dwell in the darkness beyond time and space and live apart from its laws.

The Veil[edit]

  • Every encounter has meaning
  • Every action provokes a reaction
  • You Will Fail Without Help

The thick ring of meteors that seperate Derse from the rest of the Medium, the Veil is home to many secrets.

The Battlefield[edit]

  • Peace is transitory
  • Heroes can defeat armies
  • Battles are fought from weakest to strongest

Currently a very fancy, very large cubic chessboard at the heart of Skaia, the Battlefield is where the grand war between Prospit and Derse takes place, with both sides using citizens and vat-grown monsters to wage an endless battle that Prospit is destined to lose.

The Planets of the Heroes[edit]

The Land Of Fog and Dungeons (LOFAD)[edit]

  • You must face your inner demons
  • Suffering leads to strength
  • Everything has an ending

Ayumu's world is shrouded in night, with stars glittering in the sky above. His house is surrounded by an impenetrable fog - attempting to cross it would be deeply unwise...

The Consorts of LOFAD are giant spiders.

The Land of Mud and Frogs (LOMAF)[edit]

  • Many Hands Make Light Work
  • Water Brings Forth Life
  • Believe In Those Who Believe In You

Matt's world is a land of baked, dry mud, mysteriously void on the surface of any signs of life. His house sits on a tall, tall clifftop in the baking sun.

The Consorts of LOMAF are giant, bipedal mudskippers.

The Land of Flame and Rivers (LOFAR)[edit]

  • Steady Work Will Be Rewarded
  • Actions Must Be Meaningful
  • Passions Will Burn Brightly

Riley's world is a vast and endless landscape of fields separated by wide, rushing rivers. Some of the fields are burning, sending trails of smoke rising into the sky; the others seem to be quiet and serene.

  • Riley's Consorts are the people of Little Island.

The Land of Glass and Briars (LOGAB)[edit]

  • Favors Must Be Returned
  • Things Happen In Threes
  • Nothing Is As It First Appears

A world largely covered in a tangle of enormous thorny plants, with shards of glass among the thorns.

The Consorts of LOGAB are wolves.

The Land of Cliffs and Radiance (LOCAR)[edit]

  • Truth Lies In Darkness
  • Endings Lead To Beginnings
  • Nothing Has Intrinsic Value

A world of massive cliffs and mountains riddled with caves, which are in turned filled with glittering gemstones that shine with their own light. The bottom of the world is a roiling sea, in which nothing can live, whose tides occasionally fill the lower caves of the world.

The Consorts of LOCAR are moles.

The Land of Ruins and Holes (LORAH)[edit]

  • Life is adventure
  • Stasis is death
  • Rules are made to be broken

Fitzwilliam's world is framed under a purple sunset sky, casting long shadows across its face. Broken skyscrapers, ancient ziggarauts, and crumbling castles dot the landscape, a world of overgrown brush and shrubs. The devastated cities are interspersed with deep pits and yawning chasms, separating them from one another.

The Consorts of LORAH are hawk people who cannot fly.
