Eight
Eight is dead.
Eight was a ghost-blooded scavenger in the employ of Lookshy. He was able to use artifact weaponry and detect geomantic disturbances, and thus was very useful in finding artifacts long hidden and determining their potential usefulness. He served for over sixty years in this capacity.
That said, Eight is also a monster. His superiors have overlooked his sadistic tendencies. He commands a scale of scavengers, and tends to be particularly abusive to anyone under his command that seems to have obvious advantages over him (like a face that doesn't curdle milk, or an appreciation of the arts). As such, over the years the objects of his abuse have been weeded out, little by little, either through transfer requests, injuries sustained as "justifiable punishment", or death in the line of duty. Those that remained were uniformly the worst of the lot, people with minds and bodies as debased as Eight's own.
Nathan served under him for about half a year. The Chuzei kept him working at first with threats, and when this failed he kidnapped his sister and used her as leverage. Eight was killed by Rivers Between Us when the newly exalted copper spider activated The Infinite City's defenses against him and the rest of the scale.
