Bruce Ki

Lawful Good 9th level Monk

Bruce Ki was raised in an order of Sarlonan Monks (who aren't Asian, they just happen to be Sarlonan) before his order was assassinated by the Dreaming Dark. That was when Bruce Ki vowed revenge and went to live with his Blind Karatai (note that this is Eberron so it's not Karate) teacher in Khovaire whom was then killed before his eyes by the Emerald Claw. Vowing revenge on the Emerald Claw, Bruce Ki eventually found his father and sister in Sharn where he decided to live a normal life for a while. That was when his father was killed by his old student whom happened to be a enforcer for the Boranal Clan with ties to the Aurrum. Alas, the next day his sister was also killed and violated by the Children of Winter. Since that time his romantic life has unfortunately largely consisted of girlfriends murdered by various groups that have only increased his ill-charmed life. This eventually gave rise to Bruce Ki creating "The List" which is basically his black ledger that he writes down all the various people that he has vowed revenge on in and records his work to destroy them.

His battle cries thus include "Are you affiliated with the Emerald Claw/Aurrum/Organized Crime of Sharn/Dreaming Dark/Children of Winter/Lords of Dust/or any other evil organization bent on world conquest or corruption? If so, I come for revenge!" and "That's it! You're on the List!"

Bruce Ki ended up joining the Forgotten Freedom crew because Captain Jarlot is one of the few individuals to have defeated him in blind fighting. Specifically, Bruce Ki put on a blindfold and said he'd serve him if he defeated him in a duel. Captain Jarlot then ordered all of his crew to jump him and beat him senseless. When Bruce Ki removed his blindfold, he saluted Captain Jarlot's amazingly quick and powerful fighting style. As a monk, while he possesses incredible strength and other physical attributes, his wisdom is not exactly towering. Personally, the Captain suspects it has something to do with being hit in the head so many times before. Part of this has to do with the fact that Bruce refuses to wear armor, use weapons, and has to usually be dragged off the battlefield. This combined with the sheer volume of enemies both he and the Forgotten Freedom have piled up have indeed caused some mild head trauma. Amongst the resulting qualities are slurring his speech so that his words don't usually match up with his lips and a tendency to speek in bizarre kones "Your kicks mush have emoshonal contant." "I have mashtered da art of fighting without fighting."

Bruce Ki is one of the few friends of Lisa onboard as he is firmly committed to fighting the cause of injustice. The fact that he's surrounded by a group of viwans (in his pronunciation of the word) doesn't really bother him as he believes they do more good than they cause... which is actually true in large part because of the one time they saved the planet by accidentally crashing an enemy ship filled with smokepowder into an awakening Rajah by accident. The fact that the evil organizations of Eberron also find the Forgotten Freedom loves to pillage them more than anyone else... mostly because they tend to have money... has also given Bruce ample time to achieve miniscule amounts of his revenge. The fact he's also dim enough to not question the captain when he says things like "Don't worry, House Lysander is... uhh... controlled by demons." also helps.

Bruce's sanity is also somewhat in question as his continued bad healings with no aid of a cleric have left him with some weird abilities such as his shirt flying off of him in his ki chargings before a fight and voices proclaiming things like "FIGHT" whenever he attacks. Some have suggested Dol Dorn has taken him as a personal disciple while others think that he's developed a split personality and some good ventriloquism. He also has started to become delusional as he mentions thinking that he has to go fight Shao Khan or his days with Ryu and Ken.

Bruce worked for a while at Erk's Place, but after getting a roundhouse kick to the face by Chuck Jarlot his mouth and voice lined up. It was then discovered that he had an accent like Klaz's, and subsequently a group of teachers named Bruce invited him to teach at their college.
