Slip has been living in abject fear ever since Jarlot bought her ship and her piloting services. One after another she has watched new crew members become part of the crew, then killed or eaten (or both, and not necessarily in that order). Only the worst of the bunch seem to survive, and only Jarlot, Kanatash, Norbaz and Andrea actually know she's the one flying this thing. However, part of the contract she signed means that she has to defer piloting to Captain Jarlot - He gets them into trouble, she gets them out.
She is terrified of Squidgy the Neogi, who would dearly love to take control of the Helm and return home. Her sorcerous powers have kept her safely hidden from the crew thus far, and they unknowingly owe her a huge debt for keeping his ship in one piece.
She is horrified at the damage this crew has done to the ship she 'liberated' from house Lyrandar, and secretly plans to Disjunction John the Keel - when she can cast it. If she can dump the captain off the ship, even better.

- Her real name is Messalina D'Lyrander.
- Slip wears boy's clothes to disguise her immense beauty.
- Slip's actual reasons for running away are kept secret.
- Slip has the peculiar ability to be completely unnoticed in a room.
- The Captain still denies she exists.
- A Wand of Forgetfulness is often employed to make people forget about her.
- It has to do with her past these extreme measures.
- A bunch of mysterious WiBs are seen constantly looking for her (Wizards in Black)
- The Captain is deluded that she has a crush on him.
- Slip has a telepathic bond with the elementals (and demons) that power the ship.
Oddly, none of these are true but the 'cover story' for the far more interesting storyline that she's actually from a Spelljammer ship that crash landed on Eberron.
