Volrath appears to be a Daelkyr half-blood due to his affinity for symbiotes and other aberrations, but there has never been a breed leech anywhere near his mother. When asked about his unusual abilities he simply replies, “I guess that I just take after my dad.”
He became the Forgotten Freedom’s librarian; because he is the only person besides Kanatash that they are all sure will not lose any sanity by reading some of the books they pick up. He also doubles as the ship's surgeon when Mickey is too drunk to cast regeneration. As the surgeon, he doesn’t just make his patients back to normal he “improves” them.
His possessions include a brain-in-a-jar that daily begs for an end to its tortured existence. His symbiotes include a tentacle whip named “Thing”, a crawling gauntlet, and a breed leech. He also has several Mythos tomes including a common translation of the Necronomicon. Finally he has a large collection of torture devices including but not limited to thumbscrews, pears of agony, jawbreakers, iron maidens, flaying knives, salt water, salt, lemon juice, racks, whips barbed with glass, tentacle rods, pliers, fireplace pokers, various hallucinogenic drugs, fluid injectors, flow stone, spoons, water clocks, lion tongues, medical saws, porcelain plates, forks, chalkboards, Tabasco Sauce, the first D&D movie, the programmed and major image spells, his books, lubricant, duct tape, stakes, chains, and Devon’s poetry.
Thing I want to do before I become Daelkyr

4) Have a three-way with Japanese twins.
5) Hunt down Renal Drunhoon.
6) Torture him in every fasion possible, rinse, dry, repeat.
