Hand-Drawn Picture of Isle of Lumen, by the Head Administrator

Isle of Lumen is a text-based Role-Playing website created on December 13, 2008. The website is forum-based, and is hosted by Proboards.com.

The Isle of Lumen itself is a fantasy world entirely unrelated to Earth, though maintaining many of the same features. The time period is the equivalent of the Middle Ages, as are the ways of life for all of the people living there. The only real difference from the Isle of Lumen and Earth are the fantastic creatures that live on the former, as well as the powers they possess.

History[edit]

The Isle of Lumen's past is shrouded in mystery, and there is very little anyone knows about how it came to be or the lifestyles the first people that lived there had. What we do know is contained within this section.

Religion[edit]

Though religion is hardly the focus of the Isle of Lumen - to this day there are no acts of worship - most people believe that the Isle was created thousands of years ago by the Great Six Divine:

  • Bardagh - The Warrior
  • Laekna - The Healer
  • Túran - The Elemental
  • Galdur - The Mage
  • Blóem - The Herbalist
  • Sagth - The Lorekeeper

These beliefs have held true to this day, though no faith or religion has ever been created in reverence to these six creators.

Early Stages[edit]

Throughout the early years of civilization, sentient beings were the least powerful of the land, usually cast aside by dragons or the like, who were much larger and therefore were feared by all beings. It was not until several hundred years later when sentient people were nearly extinct did six young children, all the same age, step forward. They possessed amazing gifts: one of amazing Warrior skill, one of Healing, another of mixing Herbs, another still of Elemental control, one of Magic, and one of Lorekeeping. When they came of age, they were elected the very first Council, a group of six people, each of a different Class, to maintain peace on the Isle of Lumen.

Start of Civilization[edit]

This was the start of civilization on the Isle of Lumen. Villages were built and populated, and little by little the Elves, Humans, Angels, Demons, Vampires, and Werewolves left their hiding places from the outside world and began to create a civilization for themselves. Bonds were made almost at once, though all of the races remained close as they began to build up this new world of theirs. Very few fights ever broke out and war was never declared between any of the races.

Tensions Mount[edit]

After a while of being friendly amongst each other the different races began to break away from their tight bonds. They spread themselves to the far ends of the Isle, and even traveled across to Bárn Island, where many races set up villages. Fights began breaking out, and bonds were broken. This was especially true for the High and Dark Elves, once inseparable, and the Vampires and Werewolves. While one would think that the Angels and Demons would soon part from one another, they remained inseparable. During this time, Humans remained, for the most part, neutral.

Life Today[edit]

Not much has changed since that time, though fights are more frequently coming up and a war may be looming in the near future.

There are seven races on the Isle of Lumen, and six classes. Each race can choose from three of these six classes. Each race determines where a character is most likely to live, and whom they are normally acquaintanced with.

Current Information[edit]

The information stated below refers to circumstances and facts that are currently taking place on the Isle of Lumen. At any time, they are subject to change due to updates.

Plot[edit]

When the Isle of Lumen was created thousands of years ago, peace ruled the land, and the world lived in a co-existing fashion. Today, much of the same feelings remain, but each race is getting much more cautious amongst eachother. They have since all gone their seperate ways, but relationships, for the most part, remain intact.

As usual, groups of nomads travel the island, keeping their bonds despite their different races. At the same time, each of the four regions, noted by the compass positions, house their respective races, and most cities offer accomodation for travelers as well as supplies, while on the Bàrn Island, The Council city of Omnus Valley govens over the main isle.

As if tensions could not be tight enough amongst the once tight-knit people of the Isle, trouble brews in the most northern region, specifically in the Wastelands and Laurus Valley, or so says more than a few rumors that have since spread remarkably. It is rumored that a cluster of Isle inhabitants have banded to create a group set out to destroy The Council, and the government of the Isle of Lumen itself. Anxiousness peaks as citizens wonder if the rumors are all true, and if they are...

The Council[edit]

The Council currently resides in Omnus Valley, which is located on Bárn Island. Along with the Council Members, Council Advisors stay there as well, to assist in the governing of the Isle of Lumen. They, however, are not permitted to participate in a Council meeting unless specific permission has been given. Currently, other than Càrrec Lahey, council members have not been put into place.
