Background Questions[edit]

Neimoidian Species[edit]

Neimoidians are reptilian, smooth-skinned and hairless, with large red eyes and greyish blue-green skin. They hatch from eggs in a larval, grub stage. Their pupils split horizontally, and they have forehead protrusions.

They're highly competitive, starting in early youth, and in the past food and other essentials distributed to the young in a communal pool, with no oversight, allowing the more powerful or cunning to do better.

However, the Empire seized many Neimoidian assets and grub-hatcheries, and many Neimodian worlds have started shifting away from selfishness and rampant indulgence towards a more modest and structured system.

Tarnished with a reputation from the Separatist War as amoral liars, cheats, and war profiteers, the Neimoidian leaders struggle to repair their damaged reputation and seek to distance themselves from the Trade Federation that was once their pride and glory. They have paid war reparations, submitted to Imperial rule, and some have even sought to contribute to the efforts of the Rebellion. Neimoidian society is torn, though, between old and new guards.

Questions[edit]

  • What was the family specialty back in the day? What is it now?

They used to trade in fine artworks and luxury products like vintages wines. These days, they mostly trade in the cheaper sort of hovercars and factory machinery, with a side of illegal technology.

  • What does your character think/feel about the Neimoidian involvement in the Separatist War?

It was a perfectly good idea, given the apparent situation back then! The Old Republic was too mired in bureaucracy to support a healthy galactic economy, it was time for people with some entrepreneurial spirit to shake things up a bit... or that was how it seemed. It's just too bad that it was all orchestrated by that jerk Palpatine to set up something even worse, but still, that's not the fault of the unfairly maligned Nute Gunray. Of course, this is an opinion that Jube is aware is best kept unspoken in just about any company...

  • Who in your family do you suspect is part of the "old guard"? How do you feel about that?

Jube's uncle, Kor Laago, for one. The man just refuses to move with the times, it's contemptible.

  • Is your involvement in the Rebel effort purely business?

Not entirely, there is some racial and familial pride involved too. Most people in the galaxy see Neimoidians not just as villains, but as unsuccessful villains. Jube would like to show the world that Neimoidian go-getter spirit can in fact be the catalyst for great things.

  • Who is a personal rival?

His sister, Huul Laago. She's been a thorn in his side ever since she used to steal his food back when they were grubs. Their father favours her and considers her his prime heir, of course. Well, we'll just see about that!

  • Is anything more important than business?

Culture and civilisation is more important. A merchant without some finesse and refinement is just a thug with money.
