As of the January 5, 2008 revisions, the following apply to Kyuad:

The Template[edit]

  • Size and Type: The creature’s type changes to undead. Do not recalculate base attack bonus, saves, or skill points. Size is unchanged.
    • Undead: The following are traits common to all undead. The grayed-out sections are not applicable to this character. Some of the standard Lich traits normally included in that template are common to all undead and therefore redundant, and not included elsewhere.
      • 12-sided Hit Dice.
      • Base attack bonus equal to 1/2 total Hit Dice (as wizard).
      • Good Will saves.
      • Skill points equal to (4 + Int modifier, minimum 1) per Hit Die, with quadruple skill points for the first Hit Die, if the undead creature has an Intelligence score. However, many undead are mindless and gain no skill points or feats.
      • Traits: An undead creature possesses the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature’s entry).
      • No Constitution score.
      • Darkvision out to 60 feet.
      • Immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects).
      • Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, stunning, disease, and death effects.
      • Not subject to critical hits, nonlethal damage, ability drain, or energy drain. Immune to damage to its physical ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution), as well as to fatigue and exhaustion effects.
      • Cannot heal damage on its own if it has no Intelligence score, although it can be healed. Negative energy (such as an inflict spell) can heal undead creatures. The fast healing special quality works regardless of the creature’s Intelligence score.
      • Immunity to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless).
      • Uses its Charisma modifier for Concentration checks.
      • Not at risk of death from massive damage, but when reduced to 0 hit points or less, it is immediately destroyed.
      • Not affected by raise dead and reincarnate spells or abilities. Resurrection and true resurrection can affect undead creatures. These spells turn undead creatures back into the living creatures they were before becoming undead.
      • Proficient with its natural weapons, all simple weapons, and any weapons mentioned in its entry.
      • Proficient with whatever type of armor (light, medium, or heavy) it is described as wearing, as well as all lighter types. Undead not indicated as wearing armor are not proficient with armor. Undead are proficient with shields if they are proficient with any form of armor.
      • Undead do not breathe, eat, or sleep.
  • Armor Class: +5 natural armor bonus
  • Attacks: This character has a touch attack that it can use once per round. If the base creature can use weapons, this character retains this ability. When this character is armed with a weapon it uses its touch or a weapon, as it desires.
  • Damage: This character has a touch attack that uses negative energy to deal 1d8+5 points of damage; a Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 HD + Cha modifier) halves the damage.
  • Special Attacks: This character retains all special attacks and gains those described below. Save DCs are equal to 10 + 1/2 HD + Cha modifier unless otherwise noted.
  • Fear Aura (Su): Creatures of less than 5 HD in a 60-foot radius that look at this character must succeed on a Will save or be affected as though by a fear spell from a charismatic channeler of this character's level. A creature that successfully saves cannot be affected again by the same aura for 24 hours.
  • Paralyzing Touch (Su): Any living creature this character hits with its touch attack must succeed on a Fortitude save or be permanently paralyzed. Remove paralysis or any spell that can remove a curse can free the victim (see the bestow curse spell description). The effect cannot be dispelled. Anyone paralyzed by this character seems dead, though a DC 20 Spot check or a DC 15 Heal check reveals that the victim is still alive.
    • Paralyzed: A paralyzed character is frozen in place and unable to move or act. A paralyzed character has effective Dexterity and Strength scores of 0 and is helpless, but can take purely mental actions. A winged creature flying in the air at the time that it becomes paralyzed cannot flap its wings and falls. A paralyzed swimmer can’t swim and may drown. An creature can move through a space occupied by a paralyzed creature ally or not. Each square occupied by a paralyzed creature, however, counts as 2 squares.
  • Spells: This character can cast any spells it could cast while alive.
  • Special Qualities: This character retains all the base creature’s special qualities and gains those described below.
  • Turn Resistance (Ex): +4 turn resistance.
  • Taint Resistance (Ex): +10 vs. taint.
  • Damage Reduction (Su): Damage reduction 15/bludgeoning and magic.
  • Immunities (Ex): Immune to cold, electricity, and polymorph (though they can use polymorph effects on themselves).
  • Abilities: Increase from the base creature as follows: Int +2, Wis +2, Cha +2.
  • Skills: +8 racial bonus on Hide, Listen, Move Silently, Search, Sense Motive, and Spot checks. Otherwise same as the base creature.

The Drawback[edit]

During Kyuad's time in the Cadaverous Eye, he experienced the memories of the 'Eye and his mind was supplanted by the ancient and powerful undead creation's own vast psyche. Now, Kyuad's senses have been corrupted by the 'Eye's retained memories. He now sees as though he has a third eye, sensing the world as a normal Erenlander and as an undead horror. His senses not only tell him what is in his surroundings, but he also hears and sees the world as it once was, or how it could be in the future; at times he even senses reality as it truly is without the shadows of deception and barrier to stand in his way. Though for all of this, it is still troubling. Things that are not real swirl through his vision, and sounds of speculative creatures are all around, forcing him to remain focused, calm, and attentive at all times.

When his emotions are untroubled, Kyuad's mind has become accustomed to the new senses enough to allow him to use the incoming data to focus more accutely on his surroundings. He frequently sees and hears things that others would normally ignore. However, when threatened or extremely agitated, his concentration may slip, causing him to become disoriented by the inhuman thoughts and senses.

Mechanic: If Kyuad rolls a natural 1 on any d20 roll while in combat, he loses the rest of his actions for the round.
