History[edit]

L'Igra follows the family tradition of military service, which they trace back all the way to early Caitian-Kzinti conflicts. Inspired from an early age by stories and heirlooms, she knew she wanted to go out there where the adventure is, right there on the frontier. Of course in modern days it's service in Starfleet that fills that role rather than their old armada.

Given the disastrous reputation of 'redshirt' casualty rates in recent years, Starfleet had revitalized a first responder program meant to provide all-round capable emergency crew to ships. Once enrolled at the academy, L'Igra's talents were recognized soon enough and she was invited to join the program. Although at first reluctant to become a glorified "nurse with a phaser", she came to see the value of the program and accepted. She passed with exemplary grades.

For the next 18 months she served on the USS Helena, a Soyuz-class vessel on a mission of exploration. As her career events show, things were not exactly uneventful. But L'Igra has learned to roll with the punches and was ready for more. The Soyuz vessels were being phased out and she had made it clear that she felt ready for something more. She should've been more careful what she wished for, because they gave it to her...

Career Event 1: Dealing with a plague
While on a planet with an away team, a lab accident with some of the samples they had sent back exposed the crew to an alien virus. As the medical staff had been hit first, it fell to L'Igra to figure out a cure.

Career Event 2: Encounter with a truly alien being
An away team accidentally activated an ancient teleportation system and found themselves in a strange realm where they encountered Anubis, the Egyptian god of the dead. Or rather, the ancient alien which gave rise to that myth. What followed was a clip show tv episode where each crew member's life was judged in turn, exposing secrets, affirming character growth, and finally revealing that two characters loved one another after two seasons of the writers teasing the fans with their will-they-won't-they plots. To ensure that Anubis wouldn't send them all into the afterlife, L'Igra had to trick Anubis into believing she was Bastet and then to judge her heart as well, teaching him that even his judgment was not infallible and the age of gods was over. After the ancient alien released them and L'Igra came to terms with how fucked up space can get, she vowed to be ready next time.
(Picked up the 'Xeno-Theology' Focus.)
