A series of notes written by Ian Pergil, a Tremere Lich in the backstory of Mage: The Awakening: A Civil War

June 8th 2008[edit]

A pitiful vampire spawn I occasionally do dealing with has brought me some research samples. A one Stephen Smith and his daughter Elizabeth Smith. Apparently they were homeless and living out of Stephen Smith's car. Mr Smith apparently saw this vampire feed and reported it to the authorities, the vampire promptly had him assigned to this facility. The entire incident happened near a vacant park lot near the Jimmy Carter exit on Interstate 85. This vampire who goes by the name Jeremiah apparently thinks I owe him a favor. How cute.

The first of the experiments begin. I have long sought to try to forcibly make minor soul stones out of sleeper souls, and I have had some success. Elizabeth and Stephen will be a test to see if my theories will bear fruit. Firstly I have severed both of there souls, after a day passes I will then swap there souls into the others body. This is done to weaken the souls overall cohesion without damaging it's potency..

July 7th 2008[edit]

I have been swapping there souls constantly, and the souls cohesion has begun to deteriorate as I have predicted.

October 8th 2008[edit]

The souls have lost most of there cohesion. At this point there is no meaningful difference between Stephens Soul and his daughters. I am ready for the next step.

November 30th 2008[edit]

I have now merged Stephen's Soul directly into his daughter. Two souls are now in one vessel. Neither souls potency has been lost one iota. A great accomplishment to be sure. Stephen should be dead of soul loss shortly.

December 25th 2008

As a "Christmas gift" I have given Elizabeth several arts and crafts projects and used a combined spell using a Mastery of Mind and Death to encourage her to "put her soul into her work", "after all you want to make a nice present for your sick daddy". She has created several arts and crafts, and to my delight each of them resonate as a very weak soul stone with part of her soul in them. The very last bit of her soul she put into a paper mache mask and asked if I would give it to her daddy, in a fit of pique I promised to do so. No harm in doing so the man will be dead of soul loss soon, and it's bad form to break promises I have found for no reason.

January 27 2009[edit]

The minor soul stones are greatly aiding me in the great work. All notes about them can be found there from now on. However a surprising note. Stephen Smith is still alive. I've never seen someone last so long without a soul, and he's apparently not possessed by anything either. I think I'll keep him around as a research subject a bit longer.

The notes at this point are from orderlies talking about how he has harmed several orderlies and has been grievously injured several times that would kill a normal human being and still survived.
