Hasegawa Ran was the archetypal sickly child. Confined to her bed for much of her life, she spent all her time playing CRPGs and reading fantasy novels, vicariously living the life of a barbarian hero. When the chance came for her to lead an active and heroic life, she grasped it with both hands, and is convinced that nothing could possibly make her regret her decision. Since coming out of hospital, she has started to grow her hair long, though it's currently only down to her shoulders. When reading or playing games, she wears glasses, but doesn't need them in her day to day life.

Wish: Ran wished she was as strong and as inexhaustible as the Pacific Ocean.

Crisis: Ran has been having recurring nightmares about the imminent destruction of the Pacific Ocean. Boro doesn't think this is very likely, but has clarified that if it happens she will die.

Mori Yui Fury Since coming out of hospital, Ran has spent an inordinate amount of time wandering the shadier parts of Akabira looking for trouble, and in the person of Mori Yui she found it. Ran has engaged in a number of totally mundane brawls with her, and sees Mori Yui as her main rival for the title of Strongest Warrior in Akabira. 1 0
Shivers Heart Ran first met Shivers when exploring a rarely visited beach. She was fascinated by Shivers, and struck up a conversation. She has convinced herself that they are soul-mates, and are destined to explore the Pacific Ocean together. Oh, and there's definitely nothing sexual or romantic about her interest. Definitely. 0 0

Magical Element: Water.

Magical Power: When transformed, Ran is incredibly strong and physically tireless.

Magical Weapon: Ran wields Strife, a 6' steel longaxe with coral shadings easily in one hand. The axe continually leaks seawater everywhere, but never rusts.

Costume: When transformed, Ran wears a sleeveless ocean-coloured tunic strewn with leather belts fastened by seashells with sandals that are also fastened by seashells. Where she goes, she leaves watery footprints.

Fury 10. As a barbarian warrior, Ran knows that anger is the key to victory, and she built up a good deal of resentment over her years as an invalid, which she is happy to take out on Youma.

Heart 6. Ran is a friendly girl who feels affection easily. Also, barbarian heroes are invariably charismatic, and her magic helps her fulfill that role.

Magic 3. Ran doesn't go in for Fancy Dan utility magic, especially if symbolism is involved. Smashing things is more her style.

Aggro 7. Ran's wish has made her very formidable in physical confrontations, and she's happy to resort to intimidation in difficult situations.

Cool 6. Ran has experienced a good deal of suffering in her life, and isn't scared by many situations.

Social 3. Ran doesn't have a lot of familiarity with social situations, and her obsessions are a little offputting.

Moves[edit]

Finishing Move

Crushing Wave Strike (Powerful Attack - Fury). Ran spins her axe around several times, gathering more seawater as it spins, until she fires it in a geyser at her opponent. Ran considered naming her finisher for a Tsunami but decided to save that name until she learned how to cause wide area destruction.

Magical Effects

Magic Boost: Like the Pacific, Ran's anger eternally renews itself, giving her 1 free Fury Overcharge die per combat.
Magic Strike: Ran can accompany her blows with strong waves.
Regeneration: The power of Ran's wish continually restores her body's strength.

Sorcery: Ran is absurdly strong and resilient, and can perform amazing physical feats, like surviving at the bottom of the ocean floor without equipment. She hasn't had occasion to lift a bus or a skyscraper, but any difficulty she might have would be to do with whether the object could survive its own weight. She can create water, move it around, and move around on or in it with ease, but changing its state is something she hasn't tried so far.
