BACKGROUND
Malagre always longed to be a magician from a young age. When the opportunity arose to take an apprenticeship with the famous Wizard, Mendel, he jumped at the chance.
Several years down the line, he has learned some useful things, but for some reason is simply unable to effect the merest cantrip. Mendel has despaired of teaching this otherwise bright lad anything of use and has taken on a new apprentice.
Malagre now finds himself on the street, with his savings, the fox that was to be his familiar (if the spell had worked) and the clothes on his back. Time to seek employment...
